On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8, the National Commission for Lebanese Women joins the global campaign whose theme is #EachforEqual, and launches an awareness campaign under the slogan “An equal society is an empowered society” #EachforEqual.
The National Commission would like to thank the prominent actress Takla Chamoun who cooperated in this campaign that aim at showing the positive impact, of reducing the equality gap between men and women, on the economic and social growth in societies.
The International Women’s Day this year coincides with the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women as well as with the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, as it became urgent and necessary, especially in light of the transformations taking place in our world, to develop the traditional culture that confines women in a limited stereotype, far from the political and economic decision-making.
Add to that, it has become imperative to amend the legal texts containing provisions that are discriminatory against women and to introduce new texts that provide them with protection enabling them to carry out their roles in society at all levels.
Through this campaign, the National Commission focuses on motivating every member of society to work towards achieving equal rights for all, by highlighting the collective responsibility that men and women must have in order to achieve justice and contribute to the advancement of our society.
The National Commission for Lebanese Women invites women and men to participate in this campaign by posting the official image of the campaign on their pages, and taking personal photos in which you get into the position reflecting the equality that was globally adopted, and which was taken by actress Takla Chamoun in the attached photo, in addition to exchanging the pictures on social media along with the Hashtag #EachforEqual.
