Enter the ocean’s twilight zone where the last trickle of light from the surface disappears in the abyss.
Introducing for the first time in Lebanon, the DEEPSEA CHALLENGE, a joint scientific expedition led by film- maker James and explorer James Cameron in partnership with Rolex, the leading Swiss watch brand, and National Geographic that takes us on a new journey to mankind’s deepest frontier.
On 26 March 2012, James Cameron made a record-breaking solo dive 10,908 metres below the surface of the Pacific Ocean in the DEEPSEA CHALLENGER submersible, a robust science platform, reaching the ocean’s deep¬est point. The inspirational DEEPSEA CHALLENGE voyage paved the way for a new era in scientific exploration of the ocean floor, the least known area of the planet.
For four exclusive days, visitors will enjoy retracing the expedition and will discover how Rolex, and Rolex watches, played a pioneering role in the conquest of the deep. Interactive audio and visual displays from the dive will be featured, attracting not only maritime lovers, divers, sailors, marine biologists but also engineers, scientists and film makers; it is every explorer’s dream, for kids and adults alike.
The Rolex Deepsea Challenge public viewing will be held from 18 to 21 July 2016, at the Automobile et Touring Club Du Liban (ATCL) in Jounieh, from 6.30 p.m to 9.00 p.m.
Public access to ATCL’s private premises through OBLIGATORY PRE-REGISTRATION at [email protected]
