New StarWalker writing instrument collection launches in the Middle East with an invitation to reconnect to the planet
Beirut, 3rd July 2019 – Montblanc celebrated the regional launch of its newly designed StarWalker writing instrument collection in cosmic style. Taking place in Beirut – the party capital of the Middle East – the Maison transformed popular nightclub Hngr into an out-of-this-world experience, inspired by one of humankind’s most mysterious and powerful adventures; space exploration.
Attended by more than 500 VIP guests, social celebrities, and friends of the Maison from across the greater Middle East region, the event included immersive activities that transported guests figuratively into the outer galaxies. In addition to mesmerising sounds from popular regional DJ Karrouhat, entertainment also included a captivating 360 virtual reality experience that allowed guests to look back on earth from space, and an interactive wall with illustrations by the Chinese-American former astronaut and international space station commander Leroy Chiao, capturing the moments of awe when a space traveller gazes back at earth from space.
Franck Juhel, President of Montblanc Middle East, India and Africa commented: “This year marks the 50 year anniversary of the moon landing, and much of Montblanc’s inspiration for StarWalker comes from the immense emotion that astronauts feel when first seeing earth from space. This is captured in the design of the StarWalker writing instruments and helps to remind us of the brilliance of our precious planet.”
The new StarWalker collection, intuitive with its name, is about reaching for the stars and celebrating the wonder of space travel. The black precious resin of the writing instrument recalls the dark vast expanse of space, while the translucent dome beneath the emblem evokes the earth rising above the lunar horizon as seen from the moon, a reminder to appreciate our planet. The polished platinum-coated cap and barrel represents the astronaut. The angled clip cover and dome resembles the shape of a space rocket, while the cap screw mechanism on the forepart and cone is similar to an astronaut securing their helmet to a space suit before setting off into space.
The line-up includes a Precious Resin edition in all black with contrasting metal fittings, a Doué edition with a black resin barrel paired with a metal cap or forepart, and a sleek full metal edition. Each edition is available as a Fountain Pen, Ballpoint and Fineliner, with a matching notepad and pen pouch featuring a view of Earth from space.
The new StarWalker writing instrument is available in boutiques across the region.
