Beirut, July 8, 2019: GS Storey proudly took part in Beirut Design Week’s 8th edition that was held between July 1st and 7th. In an effort to be aligned with the suggested theme – Design and Nostalgia – GS Storey scouted Lebanese designers with the purpose of incorporating design elements evoking nostalgia into the renowned home décor store.
To truly celebrate the theme, a large gathering took place at the Downtown store on July 2nd – the day allocated by Beirut Design Week to the Downtown region. During this celebration, GS Storey’s invitees as well as the designers’ guests gathered around bites and drinks to view the special collections while music reminiscent of 60s and 70s Beirut played in the background.
GS Storey partnered with illustrator Nayla Kai Saroufim, ceramic artist Joyce Samaha and The ANA Collection.
For her collaboration with GS Storey, Nayla Kai Saroufim created paintings and
steel installations of the old Beirut and incorporated colorful illustrations.
As for Joyce Samaha, the aim was to transform essential tableware into unique
ceramic pieces, fitting for contemporary living. The ANA Collection, on the
other hand, displayed their famous dolls that tell refugees’ different stories,
as well as a special GS Storey collection of pouches featuring various designs
of the eye icon, forever popular in Beirut.
The success of GS Storey’s collaboration with Lebanese designers was due to these individuals’ talent, and to the opportunity that store visitors had to relive the golden age of Beirut through design.
