Beirut, 19 February 2018 – Dr. François S. Bassil, Chairman of Byblos Bank Group, held a lunch in honor of the newly elected president of the Beirut Bar Association (BBA) André Chidiac and members of the Bar Council. The event took place at the Bank’s headquarters in Ashrafieh, and was attended by former presidents of the BBA and a number of Byblos Bank managers.
In his speech for the occasion, Dr. Francois Bassil expressed to Mr. Chidiac his sincere wishes for success and congratulated the Order for its centennial. Dr. Bassil also stressed on the pioneering role played by the BBA as one of the main bastions of Justice in Lebanon. “We follow with great interest the honorable stances adopted by the BBA in defense of public and private freedoms. We also appreciate its clarion call to establish the State of righteousness, justice and law; to fight corruption; to defend the Constitution; and to modernize the constitutional and regulatory texts, which support the different aspects of public life.”
For his part the President of BBA, André Chidiac, thanked Byblos Bank for this initiative. He noted that: “The well-being of the country’s economy is based on the following tripartite: the solidity of the banking sector; the remittances of Lebanese emigrants – making Lebanon the third most active country in this field -; and the banking secrecy that represents the most precious legislation of the last century.”
Byblos Bank boasts strong ties with the Beirut and North Bar Associations, whose members benefit from a Byblos Bank credit card with special features. The Bank also enjoys good relations with other important syndicates in Lebanon, as a result of the faith it has in the efficient and vital role played by such institutions in nation-building.
