Dubai, 16 August, 2020 – Garena has announced the Free Fire Continental Series (FFCS), Free Fire’s flagship international tournament for 2020! The fully-virtual series will bring together the top Free Fire teams from across the globe as they compete to be recognised as the world’s best – all from within the comforts of their own homes.
With disruptions to the global esports worldwide, the FFCS takes the place of the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) and continues Garena’s efforts to delight and engage fans with competitive and premium esports content during these challenging times. Garena has also planned a series of exciting activities for Free Fire players to join in the fun; players can look forward to exclusive in-game events leading up to the FFCS.
Tournament Format
The FFCS will comprise three regional tournaments that will be held simultaneously. These will be the Free Fire Americas Series, comprising the Brazil and LATAM servers; the Free Fire Asia Series, which will include Chinese Taipei, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and other markets in the region; and the Free Fire EMEA Series, consisting of Europe, Russia, and the Middle East, and North Africa (MENA).
Each regional tournament will commence from 21 November and will culminate in a Grand Final on 28 or 29 November and will bring together each region’s top teams to compete for a US$300,000 prize pool and the title of being the world’s best Free Fire team.
All three regional tournaments will follow the same format. Teams will battle over 6 rounds, across 3 maps: Bermuda, Purgatory, and Kalahari, with points awarded based on round ranking and the number of kills.
