Beirut, October 2, 2017: touch, the leading mobile telecommunications in Lebanon, managed by Zain Group, announces its partnership with OTV Lebanon to renovate locations managed by non-governmental organizations (NGO). touch will sponsor episodes of “Dalia Wel Teghyir”, a TV program dedicated to renovating the homes of deprived families in Lebanon.
The first of these episodes, which was aired on Friday September 29 at 8:30 pm, profiled Association du Foyer de l’Enfant Libanais (AFEL), an NGO that protects children and nurture them. AFEL has been in dire need of renovation to offer warmer facilities for the 100 children it welcomes in its Sin El Fil center. AFEL is one of the worthy initiatives that touch is supporting, with the rest still to be announced.
Commenting on the partnership with OTV, touch Chief Executive Officer Emre Gurkan, said, “As part of our Corporate Sustainability and Social Responsibility (CSSR) program, Positive touch, we hope this sponsorship will deliver positive change to the lives of children in need. Children are the foundation of our nation and our hope for a better future. We hope this project reinforces touch’s corporate strategy, which prioritizes humanitarian, social and cultural issues that are of importance to the local community.”
AFEL is committed to protecting, nurturing and rehabilitating children suffering from psychological or social problems, as well as those with learning difficulties, or those exhibiting delinquent behavior. Through schooling, teachings and trainings, AFEL equips these children with self-protection, autonomy and resilience so they can re-integrate back into wider society. Since its establishment in 1976, AFEL has welcomed over 5,000 children and their respective families.
