Michael Kors is pleased to announce an important sustainability milestone: the introduction of solar-powered clean energy to support its Netherlands distribution center in Venlo. This is the largest solar panel roof project in the Netherlands and it went live on July 27, 2018.
A total of 27,798 solar panels have been installed on the center’s roof. The panels will generate about 6.77 kilowatt hours per year. For perspective, that’s enough power to supply green energy to 2000 households for a year. In this case, the solar-generated power will be used to provide about 40% of the distribution center’s yearly energy consumption. The remaining solar power will be delivered back to the grid.
Solar energy is a renewable and abundant energy source that helps decrease reliance on fossil fuels and reduce the amount of pollutants in the air and water. Michael Kors is proud of this important milestone in its ongoing efforts to reduce its environmental footprint while providing a healthy workspace for its employees.
