In a step aimed at promoting the realization of the truth, ensuring the proper administration of justice and the adaptation of laws in accordance with the interests and rights of the citizens, sponsored by the Minister of Justice Mr. Salim Jreissati, Inas Abou Ayyash Foundation took an important initiative to enhance the Lebanese judicial system through the IAAF Award for the first time in the Lebanese University of law to motivate students in introducing amendments to the laws affecting public affairs.
The ceremony was held at the Faculty of Law, Political and Administrative Sciences (First Branch) at the city of President Rafik El Hariri “hadath”. The conference was attended by the President of the Lebanese University Prof. Fouad Ayoub, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Political and Administrative Sciences Dr. Kamil Habib, the Minister of State for Women Affairs Jean Ogasabian, Judge Marwan Karkabi and Lawyer Mohammed Matar.
The President of the Foundation, Ms. Inas Abou Ayyash, launched her speech with a growing awareness of the important role that lawyers play in the legal process when joining the bar accossiation.This section stresses the need to be bound by strict professional confidentiality, ethics and traditions and the compliance with law and regulations, respect for the judiciary, the adoption of ethics as a means to realize the right and not to disturb state security. Confidence and respect are essential to the performance of this profession.
She continued “As an institution, we decided to stand by law students of the Lebanese University to motivate them to be more creative in their fields and to support this prestigious college in many ways such as creating the right environment for students.”
Abou Ayyash stressed that fortifying the judiciary and preserving its independence starts with respecting and strengthening the legal profession’s assets and with developing laws according to the needs of the communities by finding recommendations and solutions to protect and promote the rights of citizens. Also highlighted that the citizen and his rights remain the first and last concern for any judiciary in the world who tries to follow the logical approach to impose his power on corruption.
And ended “dare to achieve justice”.
“You are the nucleus that we hope and rely on in order to build a capable and strong state in all fields and domains. Without you and without your efforts, Lebanon can not conduct
progress and develop,” said Minister of Justice Salim Jreissati.
“To honor is in fact an expression of loyalty towards the foundation of Mrs. Inas Abu Ayyash, which initiate the creators of my homeland and their achievements. It includes a direct message to those honored with the title of appreciation which is respect and pride in their skills and achievements”.
He concluded by saying: “I would like to extend a special word of thanks to Mrs. Inas Abou Ayyash, first because she took the initiative and dedicated a financial prize for a creative person from my country, which motivates him to continue along this path and to innovate and motivate his colleagues to follow his step. And second, because in this initiative she is constituting a culture that honors the deserved person and this behavior needs to be rooted in our thoughts and practice, simply because human nature is built to progress in order to experience humanity, and the indicators of his progress is in the appreciation of others for what he is doing, without courtesy or favor.”
The President of the Lebanese University, Professor Fouad Ayoub, said in his speech: “This is not the first time that the Inas Abou Ayyash Foundation has visited the Lebanese University since last year was the first time they explored the university. This annual initiative of the Foundation has multiple implications which carry more than one meaning referring to the goals of this foundation, which through the years its giving education and educated people a great importance through encouraging the distinct capabilities and talents, as it confirms the deep correlation and relation with the National University which we recognize the importance of its status among the people of this institution.
For the second year in a row, Inas Abu Ayyash Foundation has been awarded the IAAF Awards, a prize for creative students from 10 different universities: Lebanese University, Beirut Arab University, Beirut and Tripoli, The Lebanese American University Beirut and Jbiel, the University of Balamand, the University of Our Lady of Louaize and the University of Saint Joseph. The Faculty of Law award is held for the first time in the hope of preserving it annually.
