The winners received an all-expense paid photo-tour in Iceland to rewrite the rules of smartphone photography with HUAWEI P30 Pro
Beirut, Lebanon – April 30, 2019 – Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) alongside the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA), one of the world’s most renowned photography associations, is proud to announce the four grand prize winners after a two-month Instagram competition garnering entries from over 10 countries including UAE, KSA, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait among others.
With the aim to make high-class photography more accessible to consumers, HIPA and Huawei conceptualized the ‘Huawei Moments’ competition to support local talent and encourage creativity. Divided into two rounds with a grand knock out round to win a coveted trip to Iceland, four themes were spotlighted: People & Culture, Cityscape, Nature and Night Photography.
“Photography with smartphones has become a fundamental part of everyday life,” said Ali bin Thalith, Secretary General of HIPA. “It has become a visual witness, or even a photographic archive of our current day. Our images are a reflection of us, so it is no surprise that we take care about the quality of the images and professionalism before sharing with others. At the cross section of care is where we witness the photographic skills with the support of advanced imaging techniques come to life. The results of this combination can be seen in all the winning photos of this competition. We congratulate the winners and wish the rest of the participants’ success in their future photographic endeavours.”
A panel of judges from HIPA selected the four grand
prize winners from more than 9,000 entries captured on Huawei smartphones. The
