Ralph Lauren Announces Philanthropic Commitments in Affected European Countries As Part of Global COVID-19 Relief Efforts
Launches donation and fundraising initiative in support of people with cancer and hospital frontline workers.
COVID-19 presents an especially challenging risk for people with cancer, who are often immunocompromised as a result of their treatment.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in Europe, the Ralph Lauren Corporate Foundation has made a series of donations to selected European institutions, building on its long-standing collaboration with world leading cancer centers. The donations will support the set-up of research laboratories for the analysis of samples, the development of innovative diagnostic tests for the rapid detection of COVID-19 in patients and frontline medical staff, and the sourcing of key medical devices. In addition, Ralph Lauren will launch a fundraising appeal to support these institutions.
The selected European institutions are:
- Istituto Europeo di Oncologia (IEO) in Italy
- The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in the UK
- Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC) in Spain
- Gustave Roussy in France
- Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ) in Germany
For more information on each institution and fundraising platforms please see attached.
Ralph Lauren will also donate over 130,000 units of Ralph Lauren lounge-wear products across these countries for frontline medical staff and COVID-19 patients to wear.
Ralph Lauren has been actively engaged in the fight against cancer for over 20 years, supporting programs for screening, early diagnosis, treatment, education and patient navigation.
These commitments in Europe build on the Ralph Lauren Corporate Foundation’s recently announced commitment of $10 million to help our teams, the World Health Organization COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) / Vogue Fashion Fund, and international cancer institutions that are caring for people with cancer who are especially vulnerable at this time.
