Phenomenal things can happen when we unite in a common cause. As you know, Bokja’s business is centred around the support of Artisans with rare and precious skills. We are a family that has grown larger and more diverse over the years.
Because of the often informal nature of their work and the need for physical contact and a physical marketplace, artisanal workers in Lebanon, and around the world, are even more vulnerable, medically and financially, during these times.
With PPE supplies running low, we found a great opportunity to continue employing our talented craftspeople and started to create silk masks to donate to the frontline in Beirut. Our intention was to brighten their days and show our gratitude for their risky work. This initiative is ongoing.
Now we’re eager to do more. From today, we will be selling these reversible silk masks to raise funds to provide financial support to the nurses and frontline staff from designated medical centers in the region. The Bokja mask speaks a message of care for others and for yourself. Proceeds from every sale will be donated to the nursing staff of designated medical centres treating COVID-19 Patients.
Each Bokja mask is unique! The process of making a Bokja Silk Mask organic and ever-changing. We select remnants of our silk garment making processes and carefully assemble them into one-of-a-kind reversible masks; no two masks are the same and don’t get to choose, it chooses you. These colorful accessories are perfect reminders of the social distance you must keep from others, not to touch your face, and a tool to express your style.
