Independent pharmacy group Puri Pharmacy has announced a new partnership with UK digital health company Aide Health to launch AI-powered patient support for people using medicated weight loss services.
The move is aimed at improving long-term health outcomes, giving patients additional support between appointments; complementing existing face-to-face clinician care.
The partnership marks the start of a wider digital healthcare programme that will use conversational AI technology in the pharmacy setting to support patients managing chronic health conditions, beginning with medicated weight loss services before expanding into areas including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), obesity and hypertension.
Puri Pharmacy, a family-owned independent pharmacy serving local communities for more than 40 years, operates two pharmacies across London in Southall and Hillingdon. The business has built a strong reputation for accessible community healthcare and is now investing in digital innovation to provide patients with additional support beyond the pharmacy counter.
Under the new partnership, patients enrolled in Puri Pharmacy’s medicated weight loss programme will receive access to AI-supported health guidance and personalised digital support alongside in-person clinician care.
The technology will provide patients with educational material, including the importance of protein intake and strength training while on weight less medication, monitoring tools and medication reminders, helping them stay engaged with treatments plans between appointments.
The rollout reflects growing demand for more preventative, accessible and digitally enabled healthcare services, particularly as pharmacies continue to play an increasingly important role in supporting patients with long-term conditions within the community.
Rahul Puri at Puri Pharmacy said:
“Medicated weight loss should never be treated as a simple supply service. At Puri Pharmacy, we combine structured clinical oversight, face to face and remote consultations, personalised coaching and strong governance to help patients achieve safe, sustainable results.
Aide Health strengthens that model by providing additional digital support between appointments. This partnership reflects our wider ambition to build Puri Pharmacy into one of the UK’s leading pharmacy led preventative health brands, focused on obesity, metabolic health and long-term condition support.”
Brian Snyder of AIDE Health, said:
“We’ve always seen Aide as a natural fit in the pharmacy setting. This partnership shows how AI can strengthen community healthcare by giving patients personalised support throughout their treatment journey while helping clinicians deliver more proactive care.
“By combining trusted pharmacy services with digital health technology, we can help improve patient engagement, support long-term health outcomes and reduce pressure on NHS services.”
The partnership comes as community pharmacies across the UK continue to expand their role in delivering frontline healthcare services, supporting prevention, early intervention and ongoing management of chronic illnesses closer to home.
Located in the heart of Southall and Hillingdon, Puri Pharmacy provides a wide range of healthcare services tailored to local patient needs. Both pharmacy locations offer the NHS Pharmacy First service, allowing patients to access treatment for seven common conditions, including sore throats, ear infections and urinary tract infections (UTIs), without needing to see a GP.
Aide Health is a UK digital health company focused on improving treatment adherence, patient engagement and health literacy through conversational AI technology. Its digital tools are already being used across NHS England to support people living with long-term conditions including type 2 diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension and chronic kidney disease.
The company’s innovations have received backing from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and Innovate UK.
