Lebanese singer-songwriter Tina Yamout captivated audiences of the prestigious 8th edition of the “DIAFA International Festival” with a moving musical performance inspired by traditional Lebanese heritage, paying tribute to the poet Nizar Qabbani. Tina performed the iconic song “Ila Beirut Al Ontha” by Nancy Ajram, with a new musical arrangement. Amid Lebanon’s ongoing war, Tina infused elements of Lebanese folklore into the song, incorporating dabke rhythms and traditional chants such as “Eh Weeha,” “Ya Bou Al Zuluf” (sung by Wadih El Safi), and “Ya Mijana” (performed by Sabah) in an orchestral style arranged by Omar Ismail.
The festival took place at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers, in the courtyard of the Museum of the Future in Dubai, UAE. Coincidentally, Tina’s performance occurred on the same day Lebanon reached a ceasefire agreement on its grounds. She delivered the song with heartfelt emotion, tears of joy in her eyes, deeply touching the audience.
Tina’s look, styled by Rim Choucair, masterfully blended modern artistry with traditional Lebanese heritage. She appeared on stage in a folkloric gown custom-made in Lebanon by designer Elio Abou Fayssal, inspired by Fairuz’s iconic white dress from Petra in 1977. The gown, a shimmering white masterpiece adorned with beads and crystals, featured long sleeves and a straight flattering cut. The look was completed with a stunning crystal crown by B bloomed, adorned with cascading beads, reminiscent of traditional folkloric headpieces worn by Fairuz and Sabah in the 1970s. This created a nostalgic moment for the audience. Her diamond earrings and rings were custom-designed by distinguished fine jewelry house, Ouzounian Jewellery. Tina’s elegant makeup, crafted by YSL Beauty, and her soft hairstyle by Laloge Beauty Lounge added a refined touch to the ensemble.
In addition to her performance, Tina Yamout was honored with the DIAFA award for “Best-Dressed,” alongside renowned TV presenter and media personality Nouraldin Al-Yousuf. This recognition highlighted Tina’s ability to balance art and elegance seamlessly.
Tina expressed her gratitude, saying:
“It is an honor to represent my beloved country, Lebanon through the words of Nizar Qabbani, a poet who has accompanied and inspired me throughout my youth. I dedicate this award to my resilient homeland, its land, and its mighty people. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to my team for their tremendous efforts in bringing this performance to life, especially during these challenging times for Lebanon.”
Tina Yamout continues to shine as a multifaceted artist, blending her talents in singing, composing, songwriting, and performance with her deep passion for Lebanese heritage. This special appearance at the DIAFA International Festival marks another milestone in her journey, bridging the past and present while preserving the essence of Arab culture and embracing its evolution.
