Domaine de Bargylus and Chateau Marsyas, the two wine estates of the Johnny R. Saadé family have been successfully launched in Tokyo, Japan during the first week of February 2016. After Hong Kong in August 2015, Sandro J. Saadé co-owner with his brother Karim, attended the launching in Tokyo spread over one full week in presence of the designated importer-distributor.
Different activities took place during that week and included wine producer dinners, master classes and presentations during which specialized journalists, sommeliers, Michelin starred restaurant owners and wine connoisseurs discovered these two wines and therefore, new terroirs to their palate.
Known as a highly sophisticated wine market, looking for well-balanced and mineral wines, Japan remains a difficult market to penetrate while Marsyas & Bargylus succeeded in getting listed in the finest restaurants & delishops of Tokyo. The importance of this market remains crucial within the export strategy of the two wines since Japan is known as Asia Pacific’s second biggest wine importing country, having the 6th biggest consumer of imported wines worldwide. “Japan has a deep culture of fine wine drinking and this responsiveness to the introduction of our wines has been very encouraging”, said Sandro J. Saadé.
