On April 15th 2015, Château Marsyas, the wine estate of the Johnny R. Saadé Family launches B-Qā de Marsyasin avant-premiere at La Centrale restaurant, Beirut. With a first vintage released in 2007, Chateau Marsyas introduces today thisnew wine produced according to the same quality, philosophy and attention to detail as its elder brother.
Château Marsyas’s new wine presents similar characteristics to its elder brother and has its own personality linked to both a higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon along with the new component of the Mourvedre varietywithin the blend. Also, the difference between both wines comes from the select parcels in the domain keeping the oldest vines for the production of Chateau Marsyas Grand Vin while the younger vines go to B-Qā de Marsyas. The work in the vineyard remains key and similar for both wines.
B-Qā de Marsyaspositions itself onthe middlewinerange segment and remains the expression of its own terroir. Produced in the same vineyard than Chateau Marsyas Grand Vin, this new winehas a target production set for the short term at around 150,000 bottles a year and also benefits from the consultancy of Stéphane Derenoncourt, the French international wine-maker.
With an effective production of 40,000 bottles for the first year, B-Qā de Marsyas2013 blends finesse and minerality and is defined by rounded tannins created by 8 to 10 months of gentle barrel aging. The wine has a beautiful presentation, deep red with purple hue. Red fruits on the nose with hints of spices. On the pallet the wine is elegant and round with well integrated tannins yet smooth and chalky.
Among the participants at the launching were wine advocates, fans of Chateau Marsyas, sommeliers, French and Lebanese journalists, along withtrade’s professionals. Commenting on this new release, the two brothersKarim and Sandro Saadédeclare “Today, we are glad to introduce a new wine positioned among the quality Lebanese middle range wine labels. In 2013, our 65 hectare wine estate got a bigger production and then, we decided to start the production of B-Qā de Marsyas– an idea that came naturally to our mind based on a parcel selection. B-Qā de Marsyas is a really good wine to be tasted in a casual atmosphere which also allows Château Marsyas Grand Vin to comply with its limited production model where only the oldest and qualitative vines are kept”.
