Agenor Aviation Services, member of Johnny R. Saadé Holdings, announced on June 1st 2014, that it has signed a General Sales Agent (GSA) agreement with Aegean Airlines for the exclusive representation of the airline in Lebanon.
Aegean is Greece’s largest airline providing since 1999, full service, premium quality, short and medium haul flights. In 2010 Aegean joined the Star Alliance, the strongest airline alliance worldwide. As a result of the acquisition of Olympic Air on October 23, 2013; Aegean passengers now have increased frequencies and connections to many more Greek and international destinations. In 2014 the company plans to operate approximately 100,000 flights and to offer more than 13 million seats, close to 2.5 million more seats than during 2013. Following the addition of 5 more Airbus A320/321 aircraft the fleet in 2014 is made up of 50 aircraft. Aegean has a total of 8 aircraft bases, connecting Greece with 87 international destinations in 32 countries as well as flying to 33 domestic airports. Total traffic of both companies reached 8.8 million passengers in 2013.
The announcement was made by Mr. Sandro Johnny Saadé, General Manager of Agenor Aviation Services and Mr. Constantinos Alexandrou, International Sales Manager of Aegean Airlines. Under this agreement, Agenor Aviation Services will provide Aegean Airlines with full sales and services, as well as trade support, ticketing and administrative facilities. The first scheduled flight between Beirut and Athens took off from Beirut International Airport on June 6th, 2014. With fares starting from USD 117 (one way), and USD 234 (two ways), 3 flights are scheduled to depart every week i.e. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr Sandro Johnny Saadé said: «Signing the General Sales Agent agreement with Aegean Airlines is a strategic milestone for the tourism division of our group. We are confident that this agreement will play a key role in further encouraging tourism to Athens and boosting incoming tourism to Lebanon on the short run out of Athens and the Greek islands».
