Beirut, December 11, 2014 – Lebanon’s environmental balance is in jeopardy, as alarming official figures now indicate that green spaces represent between 11% and 13% of the country’s total area.
Century Motor Company (CMC), the sole distributor of Hyundai vehicles in Lebanon, has embarked on a new mission to help with the reforestation of the Damour region. This was made possible by its collaboration with the Damour Municipality and Jouzour Loubnan, an NGO that tends to the reforestation of arid zones, the empowerment of local communities and the promotion of environmental awareness.
As a proud and socially-responsible Lebanese company and an advocate of a cleaner and greener Lebanon, CMC has been deploying great efforts in environmental projects, bearing in mind that this campaign follows its previously launched anti-littering campaign “Al Nadafa Hadara – Don’t litter and drive.”
Under the banner of “Moving the World Together,” Hyundai Motor Company’s international social responsibility philosophy, more than 160 CMC employees headed to Damour on Saturday, December 6 to plant 200 trees. The main objective of this campaign is to contribute to a more sustainable environment and forestation, benefiting the local community of Damour and the country as a whole. CMC promises to uphold its involvement in similar activities in the coming years, to ensure a greener Lebanon for generations to come.
