Lebanon, March 2023 – Spinneys and its customers in all its branches have raised a sum of more than 8 billion Lebanese pounds following the donation campaign launched on February 24 on the occasion of International Civil Defense Day, and under the slogan “La2ano sawa, mafi chi bi hezna” to provide the Civil Defense with rescue and relief equipment.
On March 1st, Spinneys donated 10% of its total daily turnover, and allowed to those who wished to donate in all its branches an amount of 10,000 Lebanese pounds until March 12. Spinneys will organize for the media partners and the internal team a field training on “First Aid and Civil Protection” during which it will provide the Civil Defense with the protection and rescue equipment purchased with the donations.
For his part, the chairman of Gray Mackenzie Retail Group Hassan Ezzeldine believes that “this initiative is nothing but a gesture of thanks and appreciation to the heroes of Civil Defense, the aim of which is to facilitate their tasks in anticipation of any possible natural disaster,” noting that “the priority today is to support humanitarian institutions that deal with social issues, and this was our commitment from the beginning, hoping to consolidate these valuable concepts in our society”.
Following the earthquake in Syria and Turkey and the immediate response of the Lebanese Civil Defense to standing by those affected, a series of interviews were conducted with four members of the Civil Defense who shared their experiences of rescue there, despite the lack of necessary equipment and mass destruction, through special videos that Spinneys shared via social media with their followers.
This campaign reflects Spinneys’ commitment to the Lebanese society and its desire to contribute to its development and to anchor human values. It encouraged everyone to visit the store and participate in the campaign.
