Dubai, 25 August 2020: SHIFT, whose team members hail from Algeria, overcame stern competition from sides across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to claim victory in Garena’s Free Fire Arab Clash War (FFACW) tournament.
Consisting of the captain Guemmaz Aymen (Shadio), and members Mjahri Abd Lhadi (Lhadi), Aissa Kheirredine (Wanis) and Bencheikh Nasrallah (DVL), SHIFT used all their experience and skills to defeat compatriots INFINITY VS and take home the title as well as the USD $4,000 prize money. It is the first official Garena tournament that SHIFT has won since forming as a team.
For their efforts, runners-up INFINITY VS won $3,000 while Moroccan sides Soul Takers FF and NASA Team claimed $2,000 and $1,000, respectively after finishing third and fourth in the event.
SHIFT’s triumph brings the first FFACW tournament to an end following a one-and-a-half-month period of entertaining battles by some of the region’s best sides.
Played in the Clash Squad Mode format, the event, which attracted more than 15,000 registrations, saw the 896 qualified teams compete in fast-paced and intense battles, navigating their way around random locations taken from the Bermuda map in their pursuit of glory.
Fans across the region were also able to follow the action live with the Final Stages, Semi-Finals and the Grand Final broadcasted on Garena’s official YouTube channel.
Following their victory, SHIFT, who finished third in this year’s Arab Series 3, described the title win as a big moment for the team. The team leader Guemmaz Aymen said: “To become the champions of the first edition of the Free Fire Arab Clash War competition is a fantastic feeling and it really means a lot to all of us especially as it’s our first Garena title.
“From the very first match, we had to be at our very best because there are exceptionally talented, hardworking, and ambitious players in the Free Fire community across the MENA region. No match was going to be easy and that proved to be the case.”
“This victory will give us a lot of confidence going forward and we would like to express our gratitude to Garena for staging this competition during the summer. It gave us and many others an opportunity to put our skills to the test in an event that we thoroughly enjoyed.”
The Free Fire Arab Clash War competition is part of Garena’s commitment to promote the eSports sector in the region and provide regular opportunities for gamers to compete against each other at the highest level.
As part of its commitment to promote the eSports sector in the region, Garena will soon announce further new competitions for the rest of 2020.
