Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 07 April 2026 – With the arrival of THE FLORENTIN by Althoff Collection, an urban retreat has emerged in Frankfurt—an ensemble uniting the 125-year-old Villa Speyer with a newer extension. A leafy inner courtyard serves as the hotel’s vibrant heart, with the original mansion—erected in 1901—acting as the property’s historic birthplace and architectural anchor. The original “villa” was designed by architect Alfred Günther for Eduard Beit von Speyer and his family as a private residence. From its inception, the mansion served as a home and a place for exchange, reflection, and entertainment.
This ethos continues to define the property. The mansion is an integral component of THE FLORENTIN, featuring the hotel’s most exclusive accommodation. Guests may book individual Signature Suites within The Villa, reserve rooms for events, or reserve the entire mansion for exclusive use. Thus, it remains precisely what it has always meant to be: a luxurious home steeped in history, where the past remains palpable as new memories are created.
The Villa: History and Present
THE FLORENTIN opened in December 2025, encompassing both the original meticulously restored and enhanced mansion and the completely renovated newer extension. The Swiss design studio atelier zürich, in collaboration with Singapore-based interior design studio Unscripted, oversaw the property’s transformation. The Villa’s original art nouveau elements—intricate wood panelling, coffered ceilings, tiled fireplaces, and ornate doorways—were painstakingly restored. Today, the entire mansion is available for exclusive, full-property bookings, providing guests access to nine Signature Suites (including the Royal Suite), several salons, a private kitchen, and the winter garden. Alternatively, individual Signature Suites or specific rooms may be reserved separately. This allows guests to extend their experience beyond the confines of their own room as historic salons, the winter garden, or the Damenzimmer (Ladies’ “Withdrawing Room”) become integral parts of a deeply personal hotel stay—one that offers an extraordinary degree of privacy and individuality. Guests of the Villa enjoy full access to all the amenities and services offered by the hotel.
Iconic Suites: Themed Rooms with a Narrative Focus.
The nine Signature Suites in the mansion once known as the Villa Speyer are designed thematically, drawing inspiration from personalities and activities linked to both the history of Frankfurt and to the Beit von Speyer family. Each has its own identity: The Composer, The Philosopher, The Tea Master, The Jazz Musician, The Artist, The Explorer, The Botanist, The Poet, as well as the Royal Suite. All suites feature spacious layouts, with most offering separate living and sleeping areas. The interior design is defined by brushed, white-oiled Austrian oak; Portuguese marble in the bathrooms; hand-knotted cotton rugs; and Rivolta Carmignani bedding crafted from 600-thread-count Egyptian cotton.
Salons and Event Spaces
The mansion’s historic salons and event spaces include the Entrance Hall—complete with a mezzanine gallery and a Frankfurt-style kitchen—the Blue Salon, the Green Salon, the Ladies’ Withdrawing Room, the Winter Garden, the Wine Tasting Room, and the Wine Lounge. All these spaces can be booked individually or in combination with the entire Villa, making them ideal for weddings, meetings, private gatherings, receptions, and curated events. As part of THE FLORENTIN, The Villa seamlessly blends the structure of a luxury hotel with the exclusivity of a private family residence. It caters to independent travellers, long-stay guests, corporations, event planners, and individuals seeking venues with historic character and a distinct architectural identity for festive celebrations and special events.
“For us, The Villa is more than just a history. It is a place with character and legend—one that we have consciously brought into the present day.” says Boris Messmer, General Manager of THE FLORENTIN; “our ambition was to preserve its historic fabric while simultaneously creating modern spaces characterized by deep respect for—and a clear connection to—their past; these spaces function seamlessly in a contemporary context, catering to guests who value seclusion, gracious hospitality and the highest quality,”
