100% Liban Group hosted a delegation from the Strong Republic bloc in order to present the details about the law for the “Independent Corporation for the Management of the State Assets” to the members of its Economic Committee:

•Dr. Mohammad Fheili, management risk expert,
•Dr. Wissam Fahed, economist,
•Dr. Alain Hakim, former Minister of Economy and Trade,
•Dr. Bassem Bawab, economist and member of Irada Association,
•Lawyer Leon Semerjian,
•Mr. Nicolas Chikani, financial expert
• Mr. Joseph Khoury, Journalist.
The session was moderated by the general coordinator at 100% Liban Mrs. Pamela Ibrahim El Kosseifi.
MP Dr. Ghassan Hasbani spoke about the importance of the proposed law,and explained that “reforms cannot be completed without proper and integrated management of the state-owned enterprises in an independent manner from the political authority.
MP Hasbani used a study in which he detailed the positive reasons of the law and its desired benefits and he explained that “these institutions of a commercial nature, if they are managed in a professional and independent way they increase the state’s revenues, and if their services are improved, it will positively affect the economy and the treasury, and may contribute to pay what is required from the state to bridge the financial gap.”
Also he mentioned that “the proposed law is an essential plan as a reform step based on the principle of “partnership”, that means that all state institutions are owned companies, and that their management will be realized by the specialists.
In conclusion, the discussion was opened for the attendees to share their questions and observations, that were taken into account.
They asked for clarification about the bodies authorized to perform the oversight tasks and about the mechanism for selecting companies that will manage and invest in commercial enterprises.
100% Liban is interested in cooperation and building bridges with the main components and groups that influence decision-making in Lebanon, because it opens the way towards recovery and reform to restore confidence locally and internationally.
