Beirut, September 1, 2020: After the devastating explosion that struck Beirut on August 4th, the individual behind the popular restaurant and tourism Instagram account Beirut Food (@beirutfood), devoted his page to helping the families that were affected.
Beirut Food launched a fundraising campaign with the aim of providing housing for all those who lost their homes, to ensure everyone has a roof over their head.
The funds are devoted to:
- Providing rented apartments for a period of one year for families whose buildings located near the Port of Beirut were destroyed. During this year, families and NGOs can restore the destroyed buildings, in view of returning residents to their homes.
- Securing the cost of rent (unpaid rent and additional months) for families, among those affected by the explosion, who are no longer able to cover the fees due to their harsh living conditions, which only worsened following the explosion.
The campaign is operating under 100% transparency, showcasing all details, follow-ups, and receipts. To date, Beirut Food has managed to secure housing for 6 families, covering a cost of approximately 50,000,000 LBP. The funds were collected from donors who follow the page and trust those in charge of it.
With the hope of helping many more families, Beirut Food is in need of further donations from Lebanon and abroad. To simplify the process for those interested a GoFundMe page has been created and a target has been set for 10,000 US Dollars: https://gf.me/u/yts2bm
