THROUGH THOGETHER WE ARE GOOD PROGRAMME
ABU DHABI COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTES A WIDE RANGE OF IN-KIND GOODS AND SERVICES TO SUPPORT THOSE AFFECTED BY THE CURRENT HEALTH AND ECONOMIC CHALLENGES
Abu Dhabi, 27 April 2020: Abu Dhabi residents and companies have come forward with an array of in-kind contributions to support people affected by the current health and economic situation through the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an’s ‘Together We Are Good’ programme.
The authority has revealed that since the programme started earlier this month, it has received over 12,000 pledges of funds or in-kind services, with thousands of individuals and companies across Abu Dhabi pulling together in an unprecedented demonstration of community spirit, offering in-kind contributions ranging from hospitals, clinics, hotel rooms, compounds, villas and apartments, cars, meals, industrial buildings, tents, farms and land space.
Ma’an has brought together a range of parties from Abu Dhabi’s government and business sectors in a wonderful example of community spirit and social cohesion to provide accommodation for frontline medical workers in Abu Dhabi, and offer services to make their life more comfortable, of these contributions:
- 120 hours of cleaning and sanitizing time
- 24,480 water bottles offered
- 15,000 sanitization supplies
- 101,705 meals
- 1679 hotel room occupied
- 1 school contribution
Ali Mohamed Saeed Al Badi, Owner of the International Academic School said: “We consider this contribution a national duty, urging us to participate in the tremendous national effort that we see from various sectors and groups of society in Abu Dhabi to address the current health challenges.”
‘Together We Are Good’ is the official government channel in Abu Dhabi to receive community contributions to help tackle social challenges. Ma’an is supporting residents through a new toll-free helpline (800-3088) and a specially created microsite (togetherwearegood.ae) for those in need of support to get in contact.
Her Excellency Salama Al Ameemi, Director General of Ma’an, thanked the community for their in-kind contributions and encouraged more people to come forward with these “hugely valuable” offers of support.
The ‘Together We Are Good’ programme is the first project of Ma’an’s Social Fund that allows community contributions to help tackle social challenges. The Social Fund is the official government channel to receive contributions from the community to tackle pressing social challenges. To date, the funds contributed have been used to provide additional relief to the health sector and food packages to those in quarantine.
Since the ‘Together We Are Good’ programme started, Ma’an has received more than 2135 calls and 7057 SMS messages with people making financial or in-kind contributions as well as volunteering their time and expertise.
Participants wishing to contribute financially to ‘Together We Are Good’ can send SMS messages to 6670 (AED 1000), 6678 (500 AED), 6683 (100 AED) and 6658 (50 AED). They can also call 8005-MAAN for volunteering and in-kind and financial contributions above AED 1,000 or send messages on WhatsApp on 0543055366. Transfers can also be made via First Abu Dhabi Bank using the IBAN number: AE100351011003988349032. In-kind contributions include equipment, buildings, services, and time as well as expert volunteering efforts.
