- Appreciation Award recognizes Al-Kharafi’s achievements in the ICT sector and support of Youth Empowerment
Beirut, April 24, 2017: touch, the leading mobile telecommunications and data operator in Lebanon, managed by Zain Group, announces that Zain Group Vice-Chairman and CEO, Bader Al-Kharafi was presented with an Appreciation Award for his achievements as a progressive ICT leader and as a fervent supporter of numerous Youth Empowerment programs in the regional digital arena during the 8th Telecom Review Summit held in Beirut on April 20.
Telecom Review is a respected telecom publication, which has utilized it publishing platform to develop a compelling industry event, the Telecom Review Summit, gathering senior ICT industry leaders from across the region under one roof to discuss the state of the sector and to set future roadmaps.
The award bestowed on Mr. Al-Kharafi offers further evidence of the high esteem in which he is held due to the pioneering strategic progress Zain Group continues to make under his direction and also by aspiring young entrepreneurs across the region. Mr Al-Kharafi has also been Chairman of touch Lebanon since 2012 and is a board member of Injaz, an organization that focuses on youth education, development, and employment. Zain has been a key partner in the MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab Start-Up competition for three years.
Commenting on receipt of the honor, Mr. Al-Kharafi said, “Receiving this award in Lebanon is very dear to me as the country and its people have a special place in my heart and my late father who spent half his life here. The abundance of talent in the country and role the Lebanese play across the regional ICT sector is well known and Zain is committed to the future development of the Lebanon Telecom sector and to supporting its aspiring entrepreneurial youth.”
He added, “Zain is very proud of its history and achievements across the Middle East and Africa, and it is an honor in itself to be leading this incredible organization. The important work we do and the positive impact we have on the lives of tens of millions of people inspires us to give of our best, and I accept this Appreciation Award on behalf of all our 7,000 talented, passionate and diligent employees, that we fondly refer to each other as Zainers.”
