Beirut, March 2018– Promedz, professional medical supplies and services, organized a dinner on the occasion of the International Epilepsy Day–Purple Day at the Geffinor Rotana-Hamra Hotel in the presence of General Manager Hadi Al-Bsat and a group of specialized doctors as well as media representatives.
Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. On March 26th annually, people in countries around the world are invited to wear purple and host events in support of epilepsy awareness. Promedz strives to raise awareness about epilepsy and its treatment, especially with Lebanon registering more than 20,000 people with epilepsy; which is seizures of the child’s or adult’s body caused by an imbalance in electrical charges within the brain.
Commenting on the event, Mr. Hadi Al-Bsat, General Manager of Promedz said: “We at Promedz, continue to work on raising awareness and to develop technologies that help patients with epilepsy. He added: “VNS, Vagus Nerve Stimulator-Seizure Response, is a revolution in the technology of epilepsy treatment for patients who do not respond to medication and can’t undergo head surgery. It guarantees an improvement in the treatment of epilepsy by 77% and reduces the cost of long-term treatment and hospitalization. Here comes our role in dedicating technology to improve the quality of epilepsy patients’ life and to reduce costs of treatment while working on awareness continuously. With Lebanon registering some 4,000 new epilepsy cases each year affecting adults and children, awareness of epilepsy remains an urgent need.”
