Ernst August Hereditary Prince of Hanover and, the London-based, Russian-born fashion designer Ekaterina Malysheva, were married at the Marktkirche Hanover on Saturday July 8th.
For the wonderful occasion, the Lebanese designer and Ekaterina’s long-time friend Sandra Mansour conceived for the new Princess, 3 custom-made gowns, exclusively designed and finely handmade for her in the designer’s Ateliers in Beirut.
Mansour’s aesthetic is a mix of couture-level details: hand-placed sequins, beading, embroideries… which she learnt working at Elie Saab — with cool, offhand silhouettes.
Together with Ekaterina, Sandra imagined three made-to-measure outfits for the three different moments of the ceremony:
a hand and thread embroidered dress on lace with custom drawing of embroidery, for the Pre-wedding party on July 7th
the main bridal gown conceived for the Ceremony at the Church on July 8th, is a hand and embroidered wedding gown with Russian influence and lace base and beaded detail with custom drawing of embroidery
the Wedding Party (on July 8th) is inspired by the Clair de Lune dress – Sandra Mansour’s signature gown from Spring Summer ‘16 collection – revisited through degradation of off-white to blush pink with beaded details and thread embroidery.
“The dresses have an extensive amount of hand and thread embroidery. The drawing of embroidery has been created specially by us for Ekaterina’s wedding. The usage of Russian ornaments and floral motifs is very evident in some of the pieces. The wedding dress, took 3.5-4 months to embroider with pearl detail on a Chantilly Lace. While the party dress is a degradation from white to pink on organza with beaded embroidered detail. None of the dresses are alike really, each piece shows a different side to Ekaterina, each telling a different story. ” Sandra Mansour
Moreover, in occasion of the Civil Wedding that took place in Hanover on Friday July 7th 2017, Ekaterina wore a silk dress from the Sandra Mansour FW17-18 Collection Doux Reves.
