Beirut is getting ready to host the 4th edition of Photomed Liban, the Festival of Mediterranean Photography, from January 18 till February 8, 2017, with Byblos Bank as main partner and co-organized by the Lebanese Tourism Office in Paris. The Festival features Lebanese and international photographers and will be held at: Byblos Bank Headquarters, Institut français du Liban, Le Gray Beirut, STATION and D BEIRUT.
Photomed Liban 2017 presents an edition with three themes: the cinema, the city of Beirut, and the poetry of ruins. It will also be the occasion to give a tribute to the great French photographer that has recently passed away: Marc Riboud.
Philippe Heullant, Photomed President, declared: «The 2017 edition of Photomed Liban shows that Lebanon has once again a model of artistic plurality to propose».
The 4th edition will feature the works of international and Lebanese photographers such as Alain Fleischer, Sergio Strizzi and Richard Dumas at Byblos Bank Headquarters; Christine Alaoui and Marc Riboud at the Institut français du Liban; Nicole Herzog-Verrey at Le Gray Beirut; George Awde, Giulio Rimondi, Bilal Tarabey and Lara Tabet at STATION; and finally the photographies of producer Danielle Arbid, Wassim Ghozlani, Ferran Freixa, Nick Hannes et the photographers presented by the Lebanese galeries (Agial Art Gallery with Clara Abi Nader, Alice Mogabgab Gallery with Maria Chakhtoura, Galerie Janine Rubeiz with Rania Matar and François Sargologo, Galerie Tanit with Gilbert Hage, The Alternative with Michel Zoghzoghi) at D BEIRUT.
Mrs. Nada Tawil, Head of Group Communication Department at Byblos Bank said: “Over the course of the past five years, Byblos Bank’s flagship photography program has evolved into a driving force contributing to the establishment of photography as a stand-alone art in Lebanon. This achievement was made possible thanks to strong partnerships and mutual trust with international experts in the field, such as Photomed.” She added: “In the context of our partnership with Photomed for the fourth consecutive year, Byblos Bank is proud to host a collective exhibition honoring Italian cinema by renowned French photographers Alain Fleisher and Richard Dumas, and Italian photographer Sergio Strizzi.”
During the 4th edition, portfolio reviews are open to photography amateurs. It will take place on Friday January 20 and Saturday January 21, 2017, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Byblos Bank Headquarters.
Candidates, who wish to have their portfolios evaluated by a panel of experts and benefit from their advice, should visit the website www.photomedliban.com in order to submit the required information and book an appointment.

A competition for Lebanese photographers resident in Lebanon has been launched by Photomed Liban (Deadline for submission of applications: January 13, 2017).
The winner of this contest will have the opportunity to exhibit his work at the upcoming Photomed Festival in France, which will take place in May 2017. As for the 2nd prize winner, his work will be exhibited during the 2nd semester of 2017 at the gallery of the Institut français du Liban.
