On the weekend of the 11th and 12th of August, 11 international DJs gathered in Wardeh, Mzaar Ski resort for a memorable night, also known as the Agosto Experience. As the sun set down, crowds poured in to the camp, in the heart of the breathtaking mountainous scenery. After pulling up to the Wardeh parking, music lovers queued to get colour-coded “Agosto” bracelets, the first step into the festive vibes. Once inside, you dive into a whole new world, away from the city and away from everything. It wasn’t like anything you would be used to; cone-shaped tents, also known as a tipis, were surrounding the entrance, immersing you into the Native American theme of the night. Your first instinct is to pose for a photo in front of these unusual tents. As you walked through the place, blood-pumping techno music would accompany your journey of discovery. If you didn’t come prepared, Agosto staff had got you covered. Anything from blankets, estival ponchos, feathered headdresses, a glitter makeup artist, hippie bracelets and everything you didn’t think you needed was at your fingertips. Whatever your craving, different food stands offered a few of their best creations to satisfy both your sweet tooth and your savory urge. This way, you could dance and eat the night away. Let’s not forget the alcohol bars which provided some of your favorite drinks all weekend long. Festivals are known to be hectic, overly-crowded and exhaustingly unpractical. However, at Agosto, organisers prepared in advance. A large chilling area separated the food stands and shopping stalls with the concert area, which abled party animals to take a break and relax, and even use the phone charging station. Bean bags and wooden benches were available at all times, where you could rest and eat, shielded by a tent with colourful strings dangling from it. Once you’re ready to party, you’re well served. The stage was amazingly well constructed, respecting the Native American theme: a huge Indian American face with a feathered headdress was used as the main part of the stage, where DJs stood and performed. The rest of the stage was built of artificial feathers as well, creating a perfect trippy effect, mandatory in a techno music festival. As part of the whole disconnecting mantra, when you feel like taking advantage of the scenery and brightly lit starry sky, you can start your way to the camping area, which is strategically placed far from the partying crowd. On your way, you’ll come across wooden swings, baby foot, a trampoline, a skate park and hammocks, perfect to contemplate the night sky and spot shooting stars. Walking to the camping area is similar to a hike, but the pathway was candle-lit all the way up, which made the route definitely worth it. As they say, lights do guide you home. The camping area was full of tents, which you either bought from Agosto or brought along with you. A huge fire was lit at around 1am, where everyone warmed up to and even grilled marshmallows. Also, during the day, you could enjoy a moment at the pool, before heading to the concert venue. The DJs were contagiously ecstatic, just as much as the raving crowd. Each performer had his own style, and none of them disappointed our expectations. Performances were followed by fire lighting up the stage, or confetti falling all over the crowd, and mesmerizing fireworks you can’t help but look at. Overall, Agosto was a unique experience that gave us a home away from home. Every bit of it was exhilarating and adrenaline-pumping, and the best part was that it kept getting better throughout the 48 hours.
