Phoenix Hospital Group has announced the launch of its new Prostate MRI Cancer Screening Service, now available at its Harley Street hospital in central London and at Phoenix Chelmsford Hospital in Essex. The service has been introduced to encourage men to take a proactive approach to their wellbeing. The Group also offers prostate screening services at its other locations, including One Hatfield Hospital and One Ashford Hospital in Kent.
Prostate cancer remains the most common cancer in men, and early detection is vital for successful treatment and improved survival rates. The new screening service combines advanced MRI technology with expert, consultant-led care, giving patients rapid-access to clear answers about their prostate health.
“We know that early detection saves lives,” said Dr Karan Wadhwa, Consultant Urological Surgeon at Phoenix Hospital Group.
“Our new Prostate MRI Cancer Screening Service empowers men to take control of their health by offering advanced diagnostics, rapid-results, and consultant-led guidance every step of the way.”
The service offers a complete package, covering every stage of the screening process from an initial consultation to a convenient virtual follow-up. Each patient begins with an in-person consultation with a Consultant Urologist to discuss medical history, symptoms, and risk factors. Blood tests and urinalysis, including PSA (prostate-specific antigen) testing, are then carried out to provide a detailed overview of prostate health.
A MRI scan with contrast and Buscopan is performed offering a highly detailed and accurate view of the prostate. The results are interpreted by a specialist prostate radiologist, ensuring every scan is reviewed with the highest level of clinical expertise. Patients then receive a virtual follow-up consultation to review their results and discuss any next steps, all from the comfort of their own home.
No GP referral is required to access the service, and results are delivered promptly to ensure patients can make informed decisions about their health without delay.
With one in two people expected to receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, the importance of proactive screening has never been clearer. The Prostate MRI Cancer Screening Service is particularly recommended for men aged over 40, as well as for those with a family history or increased risk of prostate cancer.
Phoenix Hospital Group’s consultant-led approach is designed for individuals who recognise the importance of early detection and wish to take an active role in maintaining their long-term health. This comprehensive screening pathway offers reassurance, accuracy and convenience, providing a complete solution for those concerned about their prostate health.
Dr Wadhwa added: “Every element of the service is designed around patient convenience and clinical excellence. All screenings are led by an expert team, supported by the latest MRI imaging technology. Appointments can be conducted in person or virtually, and results are communicated clearly and efficiently, giving patients confidence and peace of mind.”
This launch reflects Phoenix Hospital Group’s continued investment in fast-access, high-quality private healthcare and its mission to support preventative health. The Group operates in London, Essex, Hertfordshire, and Kent, expanding access to excellence in preventative and diagnostic medicine.
