In a scene straight out of a modern fairytale, Iraq hosted one of the most lavish weddings in its recent history as bride and groom Ali and Ghalia celebrated their union at the “Heart of the World Hotel” in Bagdad, in an evening that brought together some of the biggest names in music, couture and event design.
The majestic celebration united the signature touch of Hollywood event designer Adam Afara, the haute couture creations of internationally acclaimed designer Zuhair Murad, and a star-studded musical program headlined by Melhem Zein and Hossam Al Rassam. The result was a night that felt less like a traditional wedding and more like a royal spectacle staged on a grand set.
After months of preparation, Adam Afara’s team brought to life a fully immersive visual concept bearing his globally recognized creative stamp. Bespoke décor elements were shipped in from six different countries, while more than 40,000 fresh flowers cascaded from the ceiling and covered the hall, transforming the space into a suspended celestial garden awash in light and blooms from every angle.
The bride’s gown was designed by Zuhair Murad – Couture,
a creation that embodied the opulence of a contemporary princess, perfectly aligned with the royal identity of the event.
Every detail was crafted to feel unique and personal:
- The invitation card was inspired by the gates of a royal palace, echoing the design of the bridal stage and the overall décor.
- The couple received two exclusive fragrances, created as bespoke perfumes that carry their names.
- Table linens were specially designed and tailored for the wedding day to harmonize with the color palette of the flowers and lighting.
- A custom song performed by Melhem Zein was produced as an intimate artistic gesture, narrating Ali and Ghalia’s love story.
One of the evening’s most talked-about highlights was what has been described as the largest wedding cake in Iraq: a towering royal palace–inspired creation with a diameter of 180 cm and a height of 3 meters. Adorned with fresh flowers, angel motifs and spiral staircases, the cake became a breathtaking visual centerpiece in the heart of the ballroom. With this royal celebration that brought together Adam Afara’s imaginative event design, Zuhair Murad’s couture elegance and the on-stage presence of Melhem Zein and Hossam Al Rassam, Afara adds yet another landmark project to his international portfolio as the go-to event designer for celebrities in Hollywood and around the world—once again proving his ability to transform a single night into an unforgettable visual and emotional experience.
