Beirut, June 1, 2023 – In preparation for the upcoming exploration offshore activities in Block 9, TotalEnergies EP Block 9 – Lebanon Branch (operator) published the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment study (ESIA) on 15 May 2023, on the Lebanese Petroleum Administration and TotalEnergies Lebanon websites for public review. RSK, an international environmental consultant, together with the Lebanese consulting company, DAR, organized public consultation meetings on behalf of TotalEnergies EP Block 9 – Lebanon Branch on 31 May 2023, in Beirut and 1 June 2023 in Tyre. Public invitations to these meetings were published in two local newspapers (Annahar and Al Akhbar) on 15 and 16 May 2023. The objective of these meetings was to present the project. Interested stakeholders were invited to comment on the findings of the ESIA study. The public consultation period is expected to take 30 days, in line with the Lebanese regulations. Following this period, the final ESIA report will be submitted to the Ministry of Environment for approval.
