2,200+ students receiving tuition support across 35 schools
Beirut, March 2025 – Education is not just a pathway to opportunity–it is a lifeline for Lebanon’s youth, offering stability and hope even in the most challenging times. In response to the devastating war that hit the country in September 2024, LIFE partnered with LebNet and launched the Lebanon Education Emergency Fund (LEEF),to support students whose education has been disrupted, along with psychosocial support and capacity building. They jointly raised $540,000, providing vital support to students across Lebanon.
From the very beginning, the priority was to ensure that funds are directed to the most effective and transparent NGOs. Following a rigorous due diligence process – evaluating NGOs based on their track record in education, political neutrality, operational transparency, and long-term sustainability–LIFE and LebNet have allocated the funds to five leading NGOs dedicated to sustaining education nationwide.
Ajialouna is providing tuition support to help school students continue their education despite financial hardships. Bassma is not only offering tuition assistance but also funding salary subsidies for school psychologists in affected areas, ensuring that students receive essential mental health support.
In a joint initiative, Beit El Baraka and Nafda are delivering a holistic approach that includes tuition support, psychosocial assistance, community-building activities, and training programs to empower students and teachers. Meanwhile, Ruwwad Al Tanmeya is focusing on a combination of tuition support, psychosocial services, and life and technical skills training to better prepare students for university and future careers.
Through these initiatives, the fundraiser is making a tangible difference. Over 2,200 students across 35 schools are receiving tuition support, while more than 4,700 students are benefiting from psychosocial support, values-building, and community engagement workshops. Additionally, 200 teachers are undergoing specialized capacity-building training, equipping them with the skills needed to navigate the challenges of education in times of crisis.
These efforts focus on some of the most affected areas, including Akkar, Alma El Chaab, Baalbeck, Beirut, Ersal, Hermel, Nabatieh, Saida, Tripoli, and Tyre, where many families struggle to keep their children in school amid worsening economic and security conditions.
With the LEEF initiative’s fundraising now officially closed, LIFE and LebNet will continue to monitor the progress of these projects, ensuring accountability and long-term impact.
This initiative reflects LIFE’s solid commitment to Lebanon, ensuring that, even in the face of adversity, the next generation has the tools to rebuild, lead, and thrive. As an organization rooted in solidarity, education, mentorship, and opportunity, LIFE will continue to stand by the Lebanese youth, fostering pathways for education and professional growth.
