December, 2021:
On the 25th December, Helme Helmak collaborated with Kayani for Palestinian females, to hold a one day workshop, under the theme: “Symbolism Art”.
Palestinian mothers has been faced by many challenges that led them to forget to take care about themselves.
In order to remind these mothers of the importance of self-appreciation in face of all these circumstances, the workshop was divided in two parts.
In the first part of the workshop, Daniella Massou from Kayani highlighted the power of self-appreciation. Her talk was supported by examples of burnout and self-care expressed by the participants.
In the second part of the workshop, Sabine El Zein from Helme Helmak connected self-appreciation with art, by inviting mothers to express their strengths through symbolism art.

Sabine ended the workshop by encouraging participants to present their drawings and the meaning behind them. Below are some examples of what the palestinian mothers explained about their drawings:
-“The crying eye represents the feeling of missing my people in Palestine.”
-“The birds represent us, as Palestinians refugees, flying from one country to another”.
-“The broken heart represents the sadness but also the resistance to stay in one piece”.
-“The flower that is dying but is also getting water represents simultaneously my sadness and hope “.
-The heart shaped ♥ doodles were representing their kind hearts.
-The mountain & The sun ☀ represented the powerful ones.

After the workshop, Sabine collected the art and printed it on a hoodie, “This year, I wanted my birthday gift to be touched by Palestine and its women, through Kayani and Helme Helmak, I got my chance to meet powerful mothers that impacted my journey of advocacy and encouraged me to keep supporting Palestine and my country Lebanon through Helme Helmak.” said Sabine.
