Rebirth Beirut Association is organizing, in its cultural headquarters located in Gemmayze – Beirut, a new exhibition by artist Georges Meouchy, curated by Dr. Tony Karam, titled: Primal Impulse.
The opening of the exhibition will be on March 23rd 2023 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM and it will continue receiving visitors until March 31 from 2:00 until 7:00 pm, at the association’s headquarters.
“People always ask me why I started painting after 20 years of legal practice. The simple and honest truth is that after coming across a painting by Basquiat, I felt an urge to create pieces springing from my own sentiments and conveying endless emotional dimensions.
I started creating pieces that are raw, emotive, primitive, and instinctual … After developing an interest in contemporary art, my passion for portraying the mystery of the psyche led to the development of a playful and funky style depicting both the fortunes and tragedies of the human condition”. Said Meouchy about his new exhibition.
“Our association’s focus today on the arts generates from our belief that Beirut is an incubator for art and culture. From it a large number of writers, painters, and poets gave a lot to the world”, said Gaby Fernaine, founder and president of Rebirth Beirut. “We are proud to be cooperating with an artist such as Georges Meouchy, who comes from the experience of legal work to contemporary art.” He added.
Part of the proceeds will go to support Rebirth Beirut’s initiatives which include a series of development projects such as the rehabilitation of the traffic lights in the capital, street lighting and other major activities serving the beautiful capital: Beirut.
