After the success in its previous years, BWFF, organized by the Beirut Film Society, launches its seventh edition from April 14 to 19, 2024, holding the theme “Women for Leadership”.
This year’s edition will be celebrated under the patronage of the Minister of Information, Mr. Ziad Makary; in collaboration with the Cedars Art Production – Sabbah Brothers; and in partnership with Casino Du Liban, and Grand Cinemas.
The festival will begin on April 14th with an opening ceremony held at Casino Du Liban where the Egyptian actress and renowned Arab artist Yousra will be the guest of honor, as a tribute to her artistic achievements and in recognition of her well-known career in the world of cinema and arts.
The festival will proceed from April 15th until April 19th, at Grand Cinemas, ABC Mall Dbayyeh, featuring 73 films from 35 countries, including a diverse range of short and feature films, in different genres: fiction, documentary, and animation films, as well as dance films; in addition to a program of seminars and panel discussions, in the presence of more than 25 international guests.
The festival will be concluded on April 19th with a closing and awards distribution ceremony. The awards will be selected by the jury members consisting of 18 prominent filmmakers, actors, and artists distributed among specialized committees for each category of the presented films.
This festival attracts a distinguished group of cinema and art enthusiasts to celebrate the achievements and creativity of women in the world of cinema. It plays a pivotal role in promoting women’s skills in the cinema field and honoring their outstanding contributions, while highlighting the leadership and pioneering role of women in society.
It is worth noting that the Beirut Film Society is an active organization dedicated to promoting Lebanese culture and disseminating it through film production and artistic works, both at the national and international levels. Its activities include organizing film festivals in Lebanon and in different countries, including Canada, Latin America, and the Arab world. Moreover, it has partnered with the Ministry of Tourism to launch the Lebanese Cinema City project, initiated by the Minister of Tourism, Walid Nassar. This project aims to attract local and international productions. This partnership is part of the Beirut Film Society’s vision of “Friendly Film Lebanon,” contributing to the promotion of an economy based on the cultural sector and on film induced tourism.
