The Mark Hachem Gallery is pleased to present “Beneath the Surface”, a solo show by Lebanese artist Betty Yaghi that will be on viewing from the 27th of October until the 7th of November. This exhibition will showcase works that will invite the viewer into a new reality that will envoke complex human emotion. Yaghi’s style embodies the spirit of “action painting”, the result is a recognizable style made of balanced strokes, precise splashes, and detailed elements. The works give off an allure of spontaneity, but are anchored with intent and a strong form. Her paintings carry both a lightness and a darkness, and invoke feelings of harmony, but also interruption, to depict structure within chaos. |
B. Yaghi is a Lebanese contemporary artist born in 1984. Having lived in several countries, she soaked up the rich cultures of Beirut, London, Miami and Dubai, and was immersed with the various art worlds the cities had to offer. Her work is strongly influenced by the 20th century movement of art led by masters such as Jackson Pollock for Abstract Expressionism. Utilizing the art movement characterized by free-associative gestures, Yaghi launched her work and coined the term “mind-scapes”, a depiction of mental landscapes portrayed as aesthetic blueprints of one’s intricate thoughts and emotional process. Yaghi has gained international recognition, with multiple solo exhibitions as well as taking part in numerous important art shows in Basel, Paris, Miami, Palm Beach, Mexico, NY, Beirut, Istanbul and Dubai. |
