At a critical juncture for Lebanon and its cultural scene, ArtEvolution, a project part of the Ta’ziz-Partnership, supported by the Goethe-Institut Libanon and funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, aims to provide a space for the development of an activist, socially committed and at the same time reflective artistic production. It also seeks to support collaborative structures within the cultural scene, in which knowledge can be shared, experiences exchanged and impulses passed on. ArtEvolution Platform, the last step of the programme, will be running on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 November at Zoukak Theatre to give the eight selected artists the opportunity to present in front of an audience their work-in-progress they developed. The performances vary from Dance, Theater, Audio Performances, and Visual Storytelling to Culinary Performance and more.The selected artists: Ali Al Samra – Rana Al Baba – Sarah Almoneem – Melissa Ghazale – Hiba Najem – Carol Ohair – Kenny Rahhal ArtEvolution is designed to provide a young generation of artists and cultural practitioners in and around the field of performing arts with an adequate pedagogical and critical infrastructure to pursue their artistic practices. ArtEvolution started in spring 2022 and continued to fall 2022, and included a short-term residency, a five months reflection time, a series of public talks and mentoring sessions, a performance festival excursion to Germany as well as Platform, the final presentation of the artist’s works. |

This ongoing project is an extensive research around the status of the voice within virtual and synthetic spaces. It aims to decorticate the material/immaterial presence of the voice in theatre. A vase that hits a woman in the head. Our characters are accused of the so-called crime and an investigation is opened. Each character has its own story, his own psychological, and social problems, which we discover in the investigation room. After revisiting the stories that contributed to shaping history, culture and traditions and modelled our good night stories.
