Beirut, 13 March 2014, Globally renowned for its unrivalled off-road capability, the iconic Jeep® Wrangler is firmly established as the benchmark in the 4×4 segment.
Now Gargour Automotive Company, the only authorised distributor of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram in Lebanon, has partnered with BISCO, the first professional ambulance converter in Lebanon to provide ambulance equipment to international standards, to create the ultimate rescue ambulance.
“There was a clear need for a 4×4 ambulance, especially in the Lebanese market, that was capable of reaching accident victims in locations that are inaccessible to normal ambulances,” said Joachim Zeitler, Chrysler Group General Manager at Gargour Automotive Company. “BISCO and ourselves combined our expertise to convert a Jeep Wrangler into the ultimate off-road ambulance – a first for the Middle East”.
Special Mopar Body/chassis modifications include a front metal off-road bumper, heavy duty recovery winch, tubular sidesteps, 2 inch lift kit, 33 inch off-road tires, wheel spacers, snorkel, off-road projector lights and high lift jack (first responder edition).
On the interior, many adaptations have been carried to ensure that the vehicle’s off-road capability is matched by its rescue and care functionality – for example, the front seat has been removed to accommodate essential equipment, there’s a tailor-made metallic floor platform, bolt seat pattern with integrated second battery box and a platform floor covered with washable rubber and non-slip material.
Other essential fixtures such as rails and fasteners to accommodate an S-29 main stretcher, provision for radio communication and control console, tailor-made roof rack, UHF/VHF antennas,
Holders for oxygen cylinders, fittings for trauma and oxygen bags, special brackets to hold IV hooks and internal lighting, plus a blue/red light bar on the roof rack have been included to ensure that the Wrangler’s ready for any emergency situation.
Gargour Automotive Company launched the Jeep Wrangler ambulance at a special event at their Dora showroom, which was attended by Representatives of Ministries, Deputies, Embassies, The Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces, Municipalities, Civil Defense and the Lebanese and International Red Cross, United Nations agencies, Hospitals and Syndicates, NGOs, Charities, and medical and health institutions.
