The races take place at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, reinforcing Nissan’s commitment to electric motorsport and the Kingdom’s growing role on the global racing calendar.
The Jeddah E-Prix represents Nissan’s second appearance in the city following the championship’s move from Diriyah, where Formula E was hosted for five seasons. The transition to Jeddah reflects the continued evolution of international motorsport in Saudi Arabia, with the Red Sea coastline providing a new and distinctive setting for the series’ first double-header of the season.
Nissan arrives in Jeddah as the reigning Formula E World Drivers’ Champion, following a highly successful Season 11. The team has carried that momentum into Season 12 with a strong start, securing podium finishes in both São Paulo and Mexico City, underlining its consistency and front-running performance.
Formula E serves as Nissan’s primary global platform to develop and prove electric vehicle performance, energy management, and software-led innovation. The championship plays a direct role in transferring advanced technology from the racetrack to everyday road cars, reinforcing Nissan’s long-term commitment to electric mobility.
The current GEN3 Evo car represents the most advanced Formula E package to date. With record-breaking acceleration, all-wheel drive capability, and enhanced efficiency, it showcases Nissan’s leadership in high-performance electric mobility without relying on complex technical comparisons.
Nissan’s participation in Formula E builds on more than 85 years of motorsport heritage, using racing as a platform to push performance boundaries and accelerate innovation from track to road. This legacy continues to shape Nissan’s approach to electrification and sustainable mobility worldwide.
The Jeddah Corniche Circuit provides a fast and flowing urban layout that blends long high-speed sections with technical corners. Its setting along the Red Sea creates a distinctive backdrop while placing an emphasis on strategy, energy efficiency, and overtaking opportunities across the double-header weekend.
Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director and Team Principal, Nissan Formula E Team, said:
“It is always a pleasure to return to Saudi Arabia, and to be back in Jeddah after such a successful first race weekend here last season. This first double-header of Season 12 presents a demanding challenge for the team, with two different races across the weekend and a very short preparation window. Following Miami, we have taken the learnings on board, addressed the key areas for improvement, and arrive in Jeddah with confidence and strong motivation to compete at the front. Saudi Arabia is a particularly important market for us, and our close collaboration with Electromin since 2024 has played a key role in strengthening the Nissan brand both regionally and globally. We are proud to continue this partnership and to race here in our partner’s home country.”
Thierry Sabbagh, Divisional Vice President and President, Middle East, KSA, CIS and India – Nissan and INFINITI, said: “We are thrilled to see the Formula E return to the Middle East, a region that has consistently proven its global impact for the Nissan brand. This race in Jeddah provides a unique opportunity to bring the passion of driving directly to our customers in the region. As the reigning World Drivers’ Champion team, we arrive with immense pride and momentum. Our success here is underpinned by the strength of our local collaborations, and we remain committed to working alongside our partner Petromin to further enhance our brand presence and deliver long-term value to the Kingdom’s evolving automotive landscape.”
Adib Takieddine, Managing Director of Nissan Saudi Arabia, added:
“Formula E is a strategic global platform for Nissan, showcasing our commitment to electric mobility and innovation. Hosting the championship in Jeddah reflects Saudi Arabia’s growing role on the international motorsport stage, while our partnership with Petromin reinforces our long-term commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s evolving mobility landscape.”
Beyond the race circuit, Nissan is bringing the excitement of Formula E closer to the public through a fan-facing activation at Red Sea Mall. The activation offers visitors an opportunity to experience electric racing up close and engage with Nissan’s vision of innovation and electrified performance, aligned with the brand’s Innovation that Excites philosophy.
Nissan’s involvement in Formula E reflects a long-term strategic vision that extends beyond motorsport, positioning the championship as a global platform to accelerate electric mobility, develop future-ready technologies and transfer innovation from the racetrack to everyday road cars. In Saudi Arabia, this vision aligns with the Kingdom’s transformation agenda, as Nissan continues to invest in innovation, partnerships and experiences that support the future of sustainable mobility.
