PIEMONTE: INNOVATION AND RESEARCH FOR NEXT-GENERATION AGRICULTURE AND FLORICULTURE
Piemonte will participate alongside Asproflor, the association representing its dynamic floriculture producers and long-standing promoter of the national “Comuni Fioriti” initiative, which enhances urban greenery throughout Italy. At the exhibition, Asproflor will present “Office Landscape,” a creative installation exploring the relationship between work, nature and wellbeing — reimagining the workplace as a living ecosystem.
Piemonte’s second partner, Fondazione Agrion, is an advanced research hub supporting the agri-food sector through cutting-edge technology and interdisciplinary collaboration. Agrion will present the projects “Natura tra le Pagine” (Nature Between the Pages) and “Il Giardino Terapeutico” (The Therapeutic Garden), focused on water conservation, biodiversity protection — especially pollinating insects — and restoring harmony between people and nature.
Paolo Bongioanni, Regional Minister and representative of Piemonte’s agricultural, tourism and trade portfolio, emphasised the region’s strategic focus: “Piemonte presents itself at Myplant Middle East with the very best of its floricultural production and an important focus on high-quality agri-food excellence. The Gulf region offers extraordinary potential for environmental awareness and sustainable development. Themes such as water conservation, public green spaces, intelligent resource management and climate resilience are increasingly central. Through Agrion’s advanced monitoring technologies and our strong agri-food identity, Piemonte is ready to engage with these expanding markets.”
Giacomo Ballari, President of Agrion, added: “Our projects aim to raise awareness of the essential role of nature in cities and the benefits it brings to human wellbeing and the environment. Many pollinators are in decline, and it is vital that we act. Bringing this message to Dubai is part of our commitment to future generations.”
Sergio Ferraro, President of Asproflor, stated, “We are honoured to participate in the first edition of Myplant & Garden Middle East and to support Piemonte’s institutional presence. Our ‘Office Landscape’ project showcases the excellence of Piedmontese nurseries and reflects our readiness to embrace new international challenges.”
Piemonte is also one of Italy’s leading agri-food exporters. In 2024, its exports to Middle Eastern markets totalled €1.9 billion, with the UAE representing over 30% of this value — confirming its role as the region’s primary commercial destination.
