In a landmark initiative that bridges the worlds of publishing and screen production across the Arab region, the Sharjah Literary Agency, in collaboration with Cedars Art Production – Sabbah Brothers and under the patronage of the Sharjah Book Authority, has launched the pioneering project “From Page to Screen.”
The initiative aims to transform outstanding Arabic literary works into high-quality drama productions, bringing the richness of Arab storytelling to wider audiences on both the small and big screens.
The agreement was signed by Tamer Saeed, Director of the Sharjah Literary Agency; Lama Sabbah, Producer at Cedars Art Production – Sabbah Brothers; and Khawla Al Mujaini, Director of Events Management at the Sharjah Book Authority, during the Sharjah International Book Fair 2025.
Under the agreement, the Sharjah Literary Agency will oversee the professional and legal framework of the project — nominating five literary works in the first phase, providing scripts, summaries, and treatments to the production company, and drafting the legal frameworks governing author–producer relations. The agency will also supervise the training program and select its participants.
Meanwhile, Cedars Art Production – Sabbah Brothers will lead the creative and production aspects — assessing the adaptability of the selected works, engaging professional writers and directors to develop the scripts, contributing its experts to the training workshops, and providing technical, artistic, and promotional support for the selected projects.
The Sharjah Book Authority will provide overarching institutional supervision, ensuring media and logistical support, hosting events and workshops within its official agenda, and nominating a selection of award-winning or shortlisted literary works to be considered for adaptation.
“From Page to Screen” stands as a trailblazing project that charts a new path for Arab cultural collaboration, reinforcing Sharjah’s position as a creative hub that brings together talents from literature, publishing, and cinema. It reaffirms the power of Arab storytelling as a global artistic force, capable of resonating with audiences around the world in partnership with one of the Arab world’s leading production companies.
