In line with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, on Tuesday October 28, the LAU Medical Center–Saint John’s Hospital organized a heartfelt awareness event dedicated to educating, supporting, and empowering women to take charge of their health through early detection and compassionate care.
The event brought together physicians and radiology technicians from LAUMC–Saint John’s Hospital, who shared valuable insights on breast cancer prevention, early detection, and the latest advancements in diagnostic care. The radiology team, emphasized the importance of regular screenings and early diagnosis, reinforcing that knowledge truly saves lives.
To make learning both engaging and memorable, patients, visitors, and staff participated in interactive games and educational activities, highlighting the importance of awareness and self-care in a fun and approachable way.
Following the awareness sessions, attendees gathered in the hospital’s auditorium for the screening of journalist Rima Karaki’s short film, a powerful and thought-provoking piece that explores breast cancer through the lens of femininity, vulnerability, and resilience. Through her film, Ms. Rima delivers a strong message about early detection, hope, and the collective importance of raising awareness.
In is opening remarks, Dr. Sally Al-Rabbaa, CEO of LAUMC–Saint John’s Hospital, emphasized the importance of women’s health and self-care, stating:
“At LAUMC–Saint John’s Hospital, we encourage every woman to take the time to care for herself, to listen to her body, and to dare: dare to screen early and dare to speak up.”
Following Dr. Al-Rabbaa’s remarks, Ms. Rima Karaki took the stage to share a few heartfelt words, encouraging women to prioritize screening, speak openly, and embrace courage in their journey toward awareness and healing.
As part of the event, Dr. Al-Rabbaa also introduced a symbolic trophy to Ms. Karaki, carrying a heartfelt message of hope and empowerment celebrating the strength and courage of women who continue to inspire others on their journey toward healing.
Also, guests enjoyed a warm and welcoming atmosphere, complemented by thoughtful symbolic souvenirs and light refreshments that reflected the spirit of care, unity, and togetherness.
