“As a not-for-profit organisation, our mandate has always been to promote accountancy and bring its benefits to a wide, diverse audience. We believe that accountancy plays a crucial role in helping economies, organisations and individuals to prosper. SMP 100 Middle East is community initiated and managed by the staff of ACCA Middle East and any professional accountant who is employed in or owns an SMP can join this community, “says Fazeela Gopalani, head of ACCA in the Middle East.
“Amongst the objectives of SMP 100 Middle East is to underpin members’
professional development and foster discussions that go to the heart of matters
that affect SMPs.”
To mark the launch, ACCA hosted a networking event featuring key leaders from business and finance who shared their stories of leading small and medium practices.
The event took place on the July 4 at The Address, Dubai Mall.
ACCA’s regional head Fazeela Gopalani spoke about her own ‘practice story’, joined by a line-up of regional SMP powerhouses. James Matthew – CEO and Managing Partner at UHY James and Sheen Zhao, Resident Partner at Meralis Chartered Accountants and registered auditors were amongst the prestigious attendees. Markus Susilo – Partner at Crowe, spoke exclusively to guests about the challenges of competing with the Big 4 as a medium-sized firm. Arshad Gadit of ATH Gadlang and Matthew Firth of Here-O Donuts talked all things growth, and the session concluded with a Q&A on Tax led by a panel and networking.
“Any professional accountant who is employed in, or owns an SMP can join this free community, which we hope will underpin your and your firm’s professional development, leading to a higher quality of service given to your customer,” said Gopalani.
