AIS Survivex, the UK’s biggest wind sector training provider, has appointed a new Head of Renewables for UK and Europe as it continues to lead the market and support the energy transition.
Charlie Guthrie has moved into the role of Head of Renewables for AIS Survivex having previously established and managed the marketing function for the training provider and other business units within its parent company, 3t Energy Group. Having worked in renewables over the last 15 years he brings a wealth of knowledge and connections with key stakeholders in the sector.
In the last year the training provider has reinforced its position in the renewables market. In its latest report the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) confirmed that AIS Survivex operates the world’s largest training centre and it has been expanding its business through acquisition and its extension into the Scottish market aiding multiple projects.
Commenting on his new appointment, Charlie Guthrie, said: “I’m particularly excited about this role as I can see the difference we are making in the UK. Operating the largest training centre for wind training in the world means we are literally the epi-centre of the green skills revolution. In my role with government and industry stakeholders I’m looking forward to driving that agenda and highlighting the unique and incredible skills that we have in the UK, and those skills that are being exported to projects all around the world.
“Having spent the time that I have with the company I understand our offering inside out and have been a key player in the creation and implementation of its growth strategy into the renewables market. We have such a diverse offering at AIS Survivex and are one of the only providers of the majority of the GWO suite of courses in multiple locations. This wide portfolio and our ability to offer training onsite really supports some of the challenges our clients face. Helped with the technological solutions we have in virtual reality, training management software and competency solutions.”
Last year the training provider delivered 14,000 GWO certifications, a 45% growth on the previous year and is the industry’s first choice for GWO accredited courses including blade repair, BTT (Basic Technical Training) and ART (Advanced Rescue Training). Moving forward, AIS Survivex and parent company 3t Energy Group plans to increase its market share in renewables, continue to address the skills gap by being the trainer of choice and being piece of individuals journey as they transfer their skills to enter the energy industry.
