Beirut, January 2022
Last Floor Productions (LFP), an Arab-founded production company, which serves the Middle East and North African region along with the global markets through its presence in London, will be launching a first of its kind Academy, that offers tuition-free training and workshops to Arab TV show creators.
Last Floor Academy is a non-profit initiative by Last Floor Productions supported by Drosos Foundation.
Over the past decade, there has been a revolution in global film and television production globally. As that radical reshaping of the industry takes hold in the Middle East, there is a common refrain amongst media executives in the region: there aren’t enough well-trained creators and writers to take on the task. Last Floor Academy has started to be part of the solution to that challenge.
LFP’s founders – Firas Abou Fakher, Nasri Atallah and Daniel Habib – are first and foremost writers and creators, which is why creating a free program to train the next generation of Arab screenwriters was a clear choice.
Last Floor Academy is looking for 15 motivated, determined and talented writers who are ready to create their own TV shows to apply by February 5, 2022. If they are selected, they will have the chance to join a free – and extremely intensive – two-month program that kicks off in mid-February 2022. At the end of that program, they will be ready to pitch their TV show to leading media executives in the region.
Last Floor Academy is committed to diversity and inclusivity within its program and wants prospective writers and TV show writers from all walks of life to apply. Previous studies in film and TV are welcome but not necessary. The program is open to anyone residing in Lebanon. The in-person seminars will be held in Beirut and transport stipends will be available to ensure equal opportunity for those traveling into the capital.
