| Eight major artists from around the Arab World have come together to perform a remake of the Arab classic song “Zuruni”, in support of Lebanese NGO Beit el Baraka. Based on Dana Hourani’s version of the song, which was released earlier this year to widespread success, the remake was recorded in long-distance mode, with Adonis, Alaa Wardi, Anthony Touma, Aziz Maraka, Dana Hourani, Kazem Chamas, Lara Scandar and Noel Kharman filming their parts, each from their own city. It was released alongside a message by the participating artists, inviting viewers to support Beit el Baraka, and a documentary by the NGO itself, detailing its ambitious agricultural project, which aims at creating free and long-term access to food for Lebanon-based families and individual in needs, in light of the country’s unfolding economic crisis. The need for solid and sustainable agriculture systems is indisputable. Although Lebanese agriculture is 5,000 years old, it boasts significant untapped potential hindered mainly by a corrupt government and its repercussions on the agriculture sector. A return to the land is thus more than crucial to building a more resilient and sustainable Lebanon. This is what Beit el Baraka hopes to achieve through its first agro farming project that stretches over 500,000 sqm of organic land that will allow them to support hundreds of additional families in need.
