The Lebanese “Darmmess” Extra Virgin Olive Oil did put Lebanon again on the map of the best Olive Oils in the world on June 13th, 2020.
It was proudly awarded the “2020 Gold Medal” at IOOC (International Olive Oil Contest) at Palmi, Italy: An international contest counting the whole world and a huge variety of premium Extra Virgin Olive Oils.
Rose M. Bechara, who just founded the brand in October 2019 and in the midst of the Lebanese revolution tells us:
“As a native of Deir Mimas (Marjayoun Caza, Southern Lebanon), a beautiful small village nested between hills covered with ancient olive trees ( 600 – 2000 years old), whose olive oil is commonly referred to as the “Bordeaux of Olive Oils”, olive oil has always been my pride.
Being very much involved in the field since a young age, I became aware that my village’s olive oil is highly appreciated and in demand in Lebanon. And as I researched and learned more and more about olive oil, I also found out about its health benefits.
Later on, I understood that its recognized quality comes from the olive varieties of that region, together with ideal geography – the altitude of the groves at 580 meters – and the quality of our soil.
Promoting this “green gold” is what I started dreaming of since 2017.
The idea of offering it, locally as well as internationally, to people who would appreciate it, delighted me. And that is how, driven by passion, and gifted with a vision, I started my journey with this one-of-a-kind Extra Virgin Olive Oil developed exclusively for a niche market of true connoisseurs.”
The “2020 Gold Medal” award is the absolute confirmation that this early harvest and monovarietal juice scores above 9 points over 10 in the world ranking by WREVOO (World Ranking Extra Virgin Olive Oil), based on organoleptic and chemical analysis. We will be remembering this achievement for Lebanon every time we look at the quality seal sticker on this outstanding Lebanese product!
