Beirut – April 15, 2019: touch, the leading mobile telecommunications and data operator in Lebanon, managed by Zain Group, showcased its latest innovations at its onsite booth in SmartEx, Lebanon’s annual four-day international technology exhibition that took place at Seaside Arena between April 10-13, 2019.
touch collaborated with Nokia to showcase the power of 5G in an ultra-low latency scenario. To showcase this, Nokia set up a Virtual Reality (VR) 5G table tennis game. The users wear oculus go glasses, which make them feel as if they are in a real game and with other players. They use the oculus go glasses to control their play. The game is started on a 4G network with higher latency of 40 to 80 milliseconds, and the players are not able to hit the ball. Next, the network is switched to a 5G connection in the 3.5 GHz – which delivers extreme low latency in the range of just 3-8 milliseconds – and the players are able to hit the ball and score.
Touch showcased also its latest B2B digital and innovative solutions for businesses and corporations, and introduced the new self-service kiosk. Startups and entrepreneurs from the hugely successful touch Innovation Program (TIP) were also present at the booth.
Commenting on the participation in SmartEx, Emre Gurkan, Chief Executive Officer of touch said, “our participation in Smartex this year is strategic for us being an active contributor to a technology-driven industry. Advances in innovation and technology are an integral part of the fabric of the telecom industry and our aim as a company is to continue to grow, evolve, and deliver the latest products and solutions to customers throughout the country. In addition, we aspire to push creative boundaries and elevate startups in Lebanon through Touch Innovation Program, given our strong conviction that the entrepreneurial ecosystem is filled with visionaries who can drive the country forward by expanding the digital economy.”
SmartEx gathered hundreds of suppliers to showcase the latest business solutions and technological innovations to an audience of thousands of regional targeted buyers.
