Beirut – March 7, 2019: touch, the leading mobile telecommunications and data operator in Lebanon, managed by Zain Group, announced its partnership renewal with Pierre Sadek Foundation for “La Plume de Pierre Award” ceremony for the third consecutive year.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, Mohammad Daoud, and in his presence at ALBA University in Dekouaneh on 28 February. Attendees included Minister of State for Administrative Development May Chidiac, former Minister of Information Melhem Riachi, former ministers Ziad Baroud and Walid Daouk, Mrs. Mona Hraoui, Director of the Office of Information in the Presidency Rafiq Chlala, Dean of the Faculty of the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts at Alba Andre Bekhazi, and a number of media professionals, representatives of universities in Lebanon, and award participants.
La Plume de Pierre competition showcases emerging talent in the field of caricature in Lebanon. It is inspired by Pierre Sadek himself, Lebanon’s leading political caricaturist who produced over 30,000 caricatures, that documented Lebanon’s modern history between 1958-2013. Pierre’s caricatures are now safeguarded by the Pierre Sadek Foundation, which was established in 2013.

Touch was given a token of appreciation from Pierre Sadek Foundation for its partnership that started 3 years ago, when “La Plume de Pierre Award” was first launched.
A Pierre Sadek exhibition is being organized alongside the finalists’ work at ALBA exhibition Hall from 25 February till 8 March, noting that this year’s drawings theme was about “Human Liberties”. For this third edition, La Plume De Pierre received 350 editorial cartoons expressing freedom from 217 participants. 56 drawings were shortlisted from the Student and the Independent categories.
LIU student Noor Awad won the first place in the student category, and AUST student Noor Ahmad won the second place, while Bernard Bou Assi from ALBA won the third place. As for the independent category, Moukhaled Habib won the only prize. Noor Awad and Moukhaled Habib will participate in a workshop at Estienne University in Paris and exhibit their drawings at the Presse Citron exhibition on March 21st, 2019.
